This directory's subdirectories contain PDP-8/DECmate disk image files.
There are two versions of each RX50 image, the contents are IDENTICAL but
the format is different and which one you need depends on how you intend to
write the disk.  PLEASE DON'T DOWNLOAD BOTH VERSIONS OF EACH FILE!!!

07/30/97:  it seems that once again I have overestimated the maturity of
anonymous FTP users.  The "sector" images are now available BY APPOINTMENT
ONLY, those of you needing free access can thank all the PINHEADS who
persisted in downloading BOTH versions of everything in spite of the above
notice.  Anyway send e-mail to <wilson@dbit.com> to schedule an appointment
if you need the sector images, but 99% of you DO NOT need them anyway.

block	Contains RX50 images in PDP-11 block format.  These files can be
	copied to an RX50 drive on a PDP-11, MicroVAX, Pro-3xx etc. using
	COPY/FILE/DEV on RT-11, or some equivalent command on other operating
	systems.  The files are interleaved in the inverse of the method used
	by the RQDX1/2/3 or RUX50 firmware (or the Pro DZ: device drivers),
	so writing the floppy from a PDP-11 etc. will give the correct disk
	format (DECmates use their own different interleave scheme).  See
	block/README for information on writing disks using PUTR.

sector	Contains RX50 images in raw sector format.  These files can be
	copied to an RX50 disk on machines that have raw access to disk
	sector I/O by writing the first 512 bytes of the file to track 0
	sector 1, the second 512 bytes to track 0 sector 2, the third 512
	bytes to track 0 sector 3 etc.  See sector/README for instructions on
	writing disks using PUTR.
