Here are the games for the hp 2648 and 2645 terminals. On my hp2648-terminal I can load them from the tape drive and I can start playing tennis. The processor in the 2648 and 2645 is an Intel 8080 Restrictions: Loading those games from the tape is no problem: Put the cartridge in the left drive, press and then . Loading the games via the serial line is something more difficult: All my equipment is uniformly configured to 9600Bd. And this is too fast for downloading binaries to the terminal. So I had to insert time-delays in the download routine of my PDP8. After every character there has to be a delay of approx 10ms. If I remember right, you can perform this with some terminal programs (procom for example by a setup feature). Probably you can choose a slower transmission rate: 1200Bd. I believe 2400Bd is still too fast, but I'm interested if somebody tries it out. A more severe restriction is the available memory in the terminal. First my 2648 had only 8K of RAM, a "02640-60101 8K BOT RAM". With this card loading the games crashed every time. I replaced this memory board with a "02640-60171 Universal Memory PCA", so that the status bytes of the terminal indicate 12K of memory. (4K of this card are unused in my configuration) With 12K of memory all games work well. For the tennis- or pong- game it is nice to have a display enhancement card with the line drawing characters installed. But this is only an optical gimmick, the game runs without this. The files are in two different formats: *.log is the format that produces kermit with the 'log session'-command. This are the files exactly as they are on my tapes. In this form there are partially very log lines, which make difficulties with some texteditors and serial linedrivers. So I cut the lines in pieces, to get them in a length shorter than 72 columns. I also added some instructions ahead the files. These are the *.oct-files. If the description of the binary-download for the hp- terminals is correct, then , and -characters are ignored, and the files are equivalent. I would be very interested in other games or applications for these terminals. And also, if they run on other terminals for example the 2647 or 2645 or others. I know there is a kermit-program for the 2647. But this definetly doesn't run on my 2648. Please email to cm@informatik.uni-stuttgart.de or look at computermuseum.informatik.uni-stuttgart.de
