OS/2 2.1 Demonstration Program:
V:TMI01
14/9/93
______________________________________________________________

Welcome to the IBM OS/2 2.1 demonstration disk!

This demonstration disk has been carefully designed to provide maximum
compatibility under OS/2*, DOS and Windows**. The demonstration should
should operate on any 286, 386 or 486 computer, with a standard VGA
display, DOS version 3.1 or higher, and a hard drive with about 4 Mb
free.

INSTALLATION:
To install the program, insert the disk into your computer's diskette
drive (in this example we shall assume it is Drive A), and follow the
steps below.

1) (Type) A:INSTALL (if your drive is Drive B, then type B:INSTALL)
2) (Press) ENTER
3) You will be asked onto which hard drive you want to install the
program. You would normally type the letter C at this point
to start the installation onto drive C.
4) The program will then begin installation, into a directory it creates
called IBMOS2. (If you already have an IBMOS2 directory, it will
create an IBMOS3 directory, or even IBMOS4 if you have an IBMOS3
directory...) In all but a few rare situations, the demo will begin,
automatically, after installation. If your configuration precludes
auto-start of the demo, the installation program will tell you so.
In that case, start the demo manually as described in the next step.
5) To run the demo again, simply go to the root of the drive the program
   was installed on (e.g. C:\ ) and type IBMOS2.

DELETING THE FILES FROM YOUR HARD DRIVE:
To remove the demo from your hard drive, simply go to the directory
that contains all of the demo files (usually C:\IBMOS2\) and type (or
click on) DEINSTAL. This will ask you first if you're sure you wish to
remove the files. If you confirm this, it will list the files and then
remove them. After this process the message "BATCH FILE MISSING" or
"BAD COMMAND OR FILE NAME" may appear; if it does, ignore the message
until the process is completed.

PROBLEMS WITH INSTALLATION?
In the unlikely event that you encounter a problem installing the demo,
you may review the possible causes below or do a manual installation
(see: MANUAL INSTALLATION).

1) Do you have at least 2 megabytes of free space on your hard drive?
(If not, free up some space by deleting files you don't need, or
install onto a different hard drive or computer).
2) Do you have a VGA (colour) monitor? (*not* CGA or EGA!)
(Check the manual that came with your monitor).
3) If installation completed but the program did not begin, then you
should go to the directory named IBMOS2 and type IBMOS2 or click on
   the file called IBMOS2.BAT.
4) If installation could not be completed and/or you are on a Network
and the program failed to install, see: MANUAL INSTALLATION below.
5) If you are running any "Terminate and Stay Resident" programs (TSRs),
there is a very slight possibility that they could cause your
computer to lock-up when playing the demo. A TSR is a small program,
such as a calendar or E-Mail program, that is loaded into memory and
stays there. These can often cause conflicts with other programs.
Solution: Remove any TSRs that are running.

MANUAL INSTALLATION:
1) To install the program manually, first create a directory named
IBMOS2 by typing MKDIR IBMOS2 at the C:\ prompt.
2) Enter the new directory by typing CHDIR IBMOS2
3) Extract the files from the diskette drive A: by typing A:IBMOS2
(for diskette drive B, replace A: with B: ). The files will be
   extracted.
4) To run the demo, type IBMOS2 from within this directory.
