1. WHY I CHOSE OS/2 (SIXTH IN A SERIES)

Why are people choosing OS/2 Warp instead of Windows? These answers,
which come from a wide range of computer users, cut through the hype.

               Because of its Flexibility
               ==========================

Marcus Malone
Vice President
NationsBank

"OS/2 provides the reliability, responsiveness and flexibility required
to support NationsBank's customer sales and service environment.
Windows wasn't robust enough to run management applications in the
background. Plus, the main application we wanted to run was on DOS and
OS/2 only."

BOTTOM LINE: OS/2 Warp with its Win-OS/2 capability preemptively
multitasks DOS, Windows and OS/2 applications.

               Because of its Connectivity
               ===========================

Jim Miller
Manager, PC Department
Enterprise Rent-A-Car

"We decided against Windows because we felt we needed the communications
capabilities that OS/2 gives us, as well as the ability to run multiple
applications concurrently."

BOTTOM LINE: OS/2 Warp Connect provides flexibility for communicating
and networking anytime, anywhere.

3. IBM LAUNCHES PAN-EUROPEAN SUPPORT CENTER IN SCOTLAND

IBM has unveiled a new pan-European telephone support center for
customers of its personal computer hardware and software products. The
new IBM HelpCentre, located alongside the company's European personal
computer manufacturing plant in Greenock, Scotland, will provide 24-hour
telephone support service 365 days per year.

The new IBM HelpCentre uses state-of-the-art technology for speedy,
efficient telephone support for customers throughout Europe. The center
will employ up to 200 multilingual helpline agents by the end of the
year and provide an average response time of less than 30 seconds to
customers. Countries currently covered by the HelpCentre are the UK,
Ireland, Belgium, France, Luxembourg and Switzerland. A total of nine
European countries will be serviced by the end of 1995.

IBM HelpCentre caters to users of all IBM PC hardware and preloaded
software, including the IBM Aptiva home computer, the IBM PC commercial
desktop line, IBM PC servers and ThinkPad mobile computers, as well as
the OS/2 Warp operating system and other software products.

4. DELPHI AND IBM FORM ALLIANCE

Delphi Information Systems and IBM have formed a strategic industry
alliance under which they will jointly market in the distribution
segment of the insurance industry. Delphi and IBM will work together to
deliver solutions built upon Delphi's new generation of agency
management systems with IBM hardware, software, and services offerings.

and casualty insurance agents and brokers, MGAs, wholesalers, and
carriers in North America.

"This is a very important strategic alliance for Delphi, and
significantly enhances our earlier commitments to OS/2 and DB2," said M.
Denis Connaghan, CEO and President of Delphi Information Systems, noting
the company's previous announcement that it will offer an OS/2, DB2
version of its SMART/Vista insurance management systems. "Our new

5. OS/2 WARP SERVER TO SUPPORT ENHANCED WINDOWS 95 CLIENT

IBM announced an enhanced Windows 95 client for OS/2 Warp Server (now in
Beta testing) and OS/2 LAN Server 4.0. The enhanced client, which will
ship in the box with OS/2 Warp Server, expands the capabilities of
Windows 95 users on an OS/2 Warp Server network and provides full access
to the wealth of systems management features in the OS/2 Warp Server. In
addition to Windows 95 clients, OS/2 Warp Server supports OS/2 Warp,
OS/2 Warp Connect, DOS, Windows 3.x, Windows NT and Macintosh clients.

"Enhancing the capabilities of Windows 95 clients creates an open,
heterogeneous client/server environment which we believe will make OS/2
Warp Server the premier server platform in the industry today," said Phil
Powers, director of marketing for LAN Systems, IBM Personal Software
Products. "This broadening of client support will raise the appeal of
OS/2 Warp Server to our target customers, which range from end users in
small and large businesses to resellers, network administrators and other
IS professionals."

7. KEY SYSTEMS VENDORS TO DEPLOY COMMON AGENT TECHNOLOGY

On September 19, 1995 Apple Computer,Inc., IBM Corporation, Ki NETWORKS,
Inc., and Sun Microsystems announced they are implementing common agent
technology, which allows system management information from diverse
hardware and software components to be consolidated and synthesized.
This technology protects customer investments in existing protocols such
as Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and the Desktop Management
Interface (DMI) because it supports existing management protocols while
facilitating DMI-enabled management platforms. Meanwhile, component
vendors benefit from a common instrumentation standard across different
operating systems.

Common agent technology provides a way for computers to integrate the
management of DMI-enabled components with components already supported
by an existing agent standard. The DMI simplifies management of a
desktop computing environment with diverse products and protocols. The
DMI provides a standard interface for communication between any
management applications and any system components.

IBM's implementation of the common agent technology, which is based on
SNMP, will be delivered as the SystemView Agent to be made available on
a variety of IBM and non-IBM platforms, including OS/2, AIX, Windows
3.1, Windows NT and Windows 95. Initial delivery of the SystemView
Agent has begun with a Beta program for OS/2 in August 1995. IBM also
will be licensing its common agent technology to other systems vendors
to encourage the propagation of management for desktops.
