Readme file for SS2INTEL.SYS

SS2INTEL.SYS is a BASEDEV for PCMCIA Socket Services that are Intel i82365 and compatibles. I have tested it with the Texas Instruments PCI 1221 controller in my Twinhead notebook and a ZOOM 56K DUALMODE fax/modem card. It may very well work with other TI 122*, 12**, and other compatible controllers.

Installation instructions (this worked for me):

WARNING! WARNING! BACKUP YOUR CONFIG.SYS AND OTHER FILES BEFORE FOLLOWING THIS PROCEDURE!

1. Obtain the PLAYWILL.EXE file from the OS/2 DEVICE DRIVER web site and execute after download in your directory of choice (preferrably in an empty one).

2. Copy SS2INTEL.SYS to your x:\os2 directory.

3. Install the PLAYWILL files according to the instructions provided with the following exceptions:

	a. During the PLAYWILL install, you will be given a choice of 2 drivers. just install one of them. It doesn't matter which one as you will edit the config.sys immediately after the install before rebooting.

	b. After installing AND PRIOR TO rebooting, your config.sys file should have something like this:

		BASEDEV=OS2PCARD.DMD
		BASEDEV=PCMCIA.SYS
		BASEDEV=CL6832SS.SYS
		BASEDEV=AUTODRV2.SYS

		or (depending on the driver that you chose during the install)

		BASEDEV=OS2PCARD.DMD
		BASEDEV=PCMCIA.SYS
		BASEDEV=TPIC95SS.SYS
		BASEDEV=AUTODRV2.SYS

	c. Change the line containg BASEDEV=CL6832SS or BASEDEV=TPIC95SS.SYS to
	BASEDEV=SS2INTEL.SYS.

		BASEDEV=OS2PCARD.DMD
		BASEDEV=PCMCIA.SYS
		BASEDEV=SS2INTEL.SYS
		BASEDEV=AUTODRV2.SYS

4. Now reboot and enjoy!

5. Don't forget about irq and other resource conflicts. There are tips on the Notebook/2 site for this.
