            Testing Your Tablet's Operation
            ===============================

At any time, you can quickly and easily verify that your tablet is
functioning properly. You can use the tablet testing procedures to
verify that all cables are properly connected and that the tablet and
tablet's pointing device are in working order.

The ATEST program lets you verify that the active area of the tablet is
fully operational, and that the output data sent from the tablet to your
computer is stable.

To install the ATEST program, please refer to the section - Installing
the Drivers Using Easy Auto-Install Program in the README.DOC file in
the root directory.

To test the tablet, please complete the following steps:

1. If you are in Windows 3.x, exit Windows. If you are in Windows 95,
restart the computer in DOS mode.

2. At the DOS prompt, type the following command and press <enter>.

        ATEST #

        where: # = 1 for Serial Port COM1
                        = 2 for Serial Port COM2

If you omit this argument #, the test program will automatically
detect whether the tablet is properly installed on COM1 or COM2.

The arrow-shaped cursor displayed on your screen reflects the
position of your tablet's pointing device (cursor-puck or
stylus-pen) within the active area. As you move your tablet's
pointing device over the active area, the arrow-shaped cursor
moves and the coordinate data (X and Y coordinates on the
lower-right corner of the screen) updates. When the tablet's
pointing device is out of the active area or proximity, the message
"Out of Proximity" will display on the message bar.

3. Click on TRANSDUCER and then select the type of pointing device
which you have connected to the tablet. The illustration and
information on the right side of the screen will properly display
the correct button status of your tablet's installed pointing
device. Please notice that the "Button Pressed" information
represents the button code. For example, for 3-button stylus-pen,
the button code for the lower barrel button is 2 and the button
code for the upper barrel button is 4.

4. Next, you can make sure that your tablet and tablet's pointing
device are functioning properly by testing them using the included
functions shown in the ATEST program. If some functions do not work
properly, please refer to ATEST Troubleshooting for more information.

5. Choose QUIT or press <esc> to exit from the test program.

Use the tablet's pointing device to move the arrow-shaped cursor in the
cubic area in the major left corner of your screen. By depressing a
button, a trace line will appear. This line will appear consistent with
your movement as long as you continue to press down and hold a button.
You also can choose the CLEAR button to clear the current trace lines.

ATEST Troubleshooting
=====================

If the test program cannot be executed properly, try the following suggestions:

* IF the message "Tablet not found or no response at assigned COM port!"
appears, please check your cable connections and make sure that you
specified the proper COM port which the tablet is connected to.
Please verify that the tablet is turned on and the LED is on.

* Verify that you have selected the correct transducer device and it
is highlighted. If the button status on the illustration is wrong,
reselect the appropriate transducer device from the choices indicated
  under TRANSDUCER.

* Verify that the COM port is working.

* Verify that you do not have another device configured to the IRQ
settings you are testing for. You should never have the tablet and
another device share the same IRQ settings. Sometimes fax/modem cards,
network cards or other RS232 devices will already be preassigned these
port settings. Check with your I/O, FAX or network card dealer or the
documentation accompanying the device for default settings for your
  additional serial devices.

* The ATEST test program cannot be run in an OS/2 session.
