Using the Tablet with Windows NT
          ================================
Your tablet really brings the Windows NT environment to life by providing the
ultimate control of absolute positioning and a wide range of customization
options. With these features, your tablet lends even greater ease of use
to your Microsoft Windows desktop and applications, letting you work the
way you think. The tablet's absolute positioning capability and customization
options are designed to boost your performance, helping you work easily,
quickly, and intuitively.

When you install the tablet for Windows NT, all of your Windows NT applications
are taken care of at the same time. You do not have to install or setup
the tablet for each application. In Windows NT, you can use the tablet even
if you already have a mouse or trackball. They can be used together with
Windows NT.

The tablet is also fully WinTab compatible. If your Windows NT application
also supports a WinTab compatible tablet, you can configure the digitizer
options of your Windows NT application as a WinTab compatible tablet. You
can use the tablet as both a Windows NT system pointing device for all Windows
NT applications and also as a pointing device of templates provided by these
applications such as AutoCAD for Windows NT.

Installing the Tablet for Your System and Software Applications
===============================================================

Before you install the tablet for your system or software application,
please refer to the section - Installing the Tablet Hardware in the
Quick Start to connect the tablet to your computer.

IMPORTANT !!!
-------------

NOTE 1 : Please be sure to turn off your computer before you start to
         connect the cables.

NOTE 2 : If the cable connecting is not done correctly, it may damage
         your tablet or computer.

Installing the Tablet for Windows NT
====================================

If you want to install the tablet for Windows NT, please refer to the
section - Installing the WinTab Driver for Windows in the README.DOC
file in the root directory.

When you use the WINSETUP program to install the WinTab driver for Windows
NT, in Windows NT 4.0, the program will automatically add a ACECAD folder
on the Programs menu and add a Tablet Control Panel to this ACECAD folder.
(In Windows NT 3.x, the program will automatically create a group called
ACECAD and add a Tablet Control Panel to this ACECAD group.)

You can use the Tablet Control Panel to customize your tablet settings
such as the Tracking Area, Button Assignments, etc. for even greater ease
of use. Please refer to the following section - Customizing the Tablet
in Windows NT for the details.

Customizing the Tablet in Windows NT
====================================

The Tablet Control Panel lets you customize the use of your tablet. For
increased comfort and ease of use, you can use the Tablet Control Panel
to adjust the size of the tracking area on the tablet. For example, you
can set a 3"x2" area on the tablet to correspond to the entire Windows
screen, making menu picking as easy as a flick of the wrist. You may also
use the Tablet Control Panel to customize the button assignments such as
left lick, left double click, left drag, right click, ...and so on. With
the Tablet Control Panel, you can also select the Aspect Ratio function
to ensure perfect one to one synchronization between your tablet and your
monitor screen. This function is especially important for graphics
applications where precise rendering is required.

In Windows NT, choose the Tablet Control Panel icon from the
ACECAD window. The Tablet Control Panel window appears and displays
three icons -Information, Transducers, and Customization.

The following list summarizes the options you can set.

----- Choosing the Information icon, you can see the background
information for the tablet and set the tablet's unit of
measure to inches (") or centimeters (cm).

----- Choosing the Transducers icon, you can select the exact type of
pointing device you will use. This selection assigns the proper
button configurations for each pointing device.

----- Choosing the Customization icon, you can change the following
        options in the Tablet Setup dialog box;

        - Tracking Mode
        - Button Assignments
        - Tracking Area
        - Aspect Ratio

Changing the Tablet's Unit of Measure
-------------------------------------

The unit of measure for the tablet can be set to inches (") or
centimeters (cm). To change the unit of measure:

1. Choose the Information icon from the Tablet Control Panel window.
        Or
Choose the Customization icon. Both the Tablet Setup window and
the Tablet Information window let you set the unit of measure.
2. Open the Units drop-down list box and select inches or centimeters.
3. Choose the OK button to accept the change.

Changing the Tablet's Pointing Device
-------------------------------------

You must select the proper type of pointing device which you have
connected with the tablet for proper button number and button
assignments. To change the type of pointing device:

1. Choose the Transducers icon from the Tablet Control Panel window.
2. Open the Cursor Type drop-down list box and select the tablet's
pointing device you will be using.
3. Choose the OK button to accept the change.

Customizing the Tablet Settings in Windows
------------------------------------------

Choose the Customization icon from the Tablet Control Panel window. The
Tablet Setup dialog box appears.

The options in the Tablet Setup dialog box are described as follows;

Tracking Mode (Relative or Absolute Mode)
  *****************************************

If needed for a specific application, you can change the Tracking
mode from absolute mode to relative mode. In Absolute mode, you can
adjust the tracking area corresponding to the Windows screen. By
reducing the size of the tracking area, while in Absolute mode, it will
also increase the speed of your pointer movements.

To adjust the tracking of the screen pointer for Relative mode,
change the percentage for the sensitivity parameter. Increasing or
decreasing the sensitivity percentage will increase or decrease the
response of the screen pointer.

  Button Assignments
  ******************

When the Default option is selected, from the drop-down list box
in this Button Assignments option, you can see the default button
assignments for the tablet's pointing device you chose in the Transducer
Setup dialogue box. You also can clear the Default check box and use
this option to redefine the button assignments such as left click, left
double click, left drag, right click, ...and so on.

  Tracking Area
  **************

The default tracking area is the whole 5"x5" active area contained by
the recessed area covered by the transparent overlay sheet. Under absolute
mode, the position of the tablet's pointing device on the tracking area
corresponds directly to the screen position. If you are using the tablet
primarily for menu picking and pointer movement, you may wish to reduce the
size of the tracking area. With a smaller tracking area, you can move the
screen pointer from one corner of the Windows screen to the other within a
short distance on the tablet, thus substantially increasing your speed
and ease of operation. Your tablet's pointing device will respond only
within the new tracking area on the tablet, not the full area covered
by the overlay.

To specify a new tracking area:

1. Clear the Whole Tablet check box.
2. Click the active area rectangle in the lower-middle section of the
        Tablet Setup dialogue box.

The screen pointer changes from an arrow to a cross.

Click the lower-left corner and then the upper-right corner of the
new tracking area you want to use.

        Or

Type the values in the Width, Height and Margin text boxes in the
lower-left corner of the dialog box.

        Or

Click the Up or Down scroll arrow next to each of the Width, Height
and Margin text boxes to adjust the size and position of the tracking
        area.

3. If you need to preserve the aspect ratio of the new tracking area
to the area on your screen, select the Preserve Aspect Ratio check box.

Note! For tracing or precise drawing, you will probably want to
preserve the aspect ratio. For selecting menu options or
simple pointer movements, this setting is not required.

  Command Button
  **************

OK - Close the dialog box and carry out the changes you made.
Cancel - Close the dialog box and cancel any changes you made.
Revert - Undo any changes you made.
Test - Test and try to use the new settings.

General Troubleshooting Solutions
=================================

Problem: The system pointer responds to the tablet's pointing device
(stylus-pen or cursor-puck) movements sometimes, but not
                always.
Solution: Check to see if the tracking area is set for the full active
area within the transparent overlay. The tracking area is
defined through the Tablet Control Panel in Windows.

Problem: Double-clicking is difficult to work.
Solution: Open Mouse icon from Windows Control Panel. Make sure that
the double-click speed in the Mouse Properties is not set
                too fast.

Problem: The system pointer is too sensitive or not sensitive enough
to pointing device motion, while working under Windows.
Solution: If you are in absolute mode, you may adjust the response
speed by adjusting the size of the tracking area. If you are
in relative mode, you need to adjust the sensitivity parameter.
Both of these settings are adjusted through the Tablet Control
                Panel.

Problem: Some buttons of stylus-pen or cursor-puck do not work.
Solution: Open the Transducers icon from the Tablet Control Panel window.
Make sure you selected the proper type of the pointing device
in the Transducer Setup dialogue box.

Problem: When drawing on the tablet, the image on the screen appears
                stretched.
Solution: Open the Customization icon from the Tablet Control Panel
window. In the Tablet Setup dialog box, select the Preserve
                Aspect Ratio check box.
