Name of file: PMMDSLOG.ZIP

Contents: PMMERGE.DLL
           readme.txt (this document)

Description:
This patch is for users of DualStor for OS/2 who are
receiving SYS 3175 errors when trying to open a session log.
This patch should only be necessary if problems began after
installing Warp Fixpack 17. The module on which the SYS
3175 error occurs should be PMMERGE.DLL.

Installation instructions:

Unzip the contents of PMMDSLOG.ZIP onto a floppy disk or a
temporary directory on your hard drive. If you are reading
this, you probably have already done so.

If OS/2 resides on an HPFS partition:
Boot off of the first two install disks to get to an
OS/2 command prompt.

If OS/2 resides on a FAT partition:
Boot off of a bootable diskette (DOS or first two
OS/2 install disks) or another partition if available.

Change to the OS2\DLL\ subdirectory on the drive or
partition on which the failing version of OS/2 was
installed.

DO NOT POWER OFF OR REBOOT YOUR PC UNTIL THE FOLLOWING
INSTRUCTIONS HAVE BEEN SUCESSFULLY COMPLETED AND THIS
DOCUMENT INSTRUCTS YOU TO DO SO.

Type:

COPY PMMERGE.DLL PMMERGE.IBM <Enter>

The system should respond with a message noting that this
command completed sucessfully (such as "1 file copied".)

If this command did not complete sucessfully, do not
continue.

Type:

DEL PMMERGE.DLL <Enter>

This will remove the old PMMERGE.DLL (which was copied to
PMMERGE.IBM for archival purposes).

Type:

COPY Drive:\PATH\PMMERGE.DLL <Enter>

Where "Drive:" is the drive on which the new PMMERGE.DLL
exists, and "PATH" is the fully rooted path to the
subdirectory containing PMMERGE.DLL.

EXAMPLE ONE:

If you unzipped the contents of PMMDSLOG.ZIP onto a blank
floppy diskette, insert that diskette into the diskette
drive. For the purposes of this example, I will assume the
diskette drive is A: (although it may be B: on your system).

Type the following command (from the OS2\DLL\ subdirectory):

COPY A:\PMMERGE.DLL <Enter>

EXAMPLE TWO:

If you unzipped the contents of PMMDSLOG.ZIP into a
temporary directory called C:\TEMP, issue the following
command (from the OS2\DLL\ subdirectory):

COPY C:\TEMP\PMMERGE.DLL <Enter>

You may want to save this readme.txt file for future
reference or print it out for instructions while you make
the necessary changes.

You may now reboot your system into OS/2 and test to see if
you can open a DualStor session log without receiving a SYS
3175 error on PMMERGE.DLL.

If you no longer receive an error message, you are done.
You can remove this readme.txt and PMMERGE.DLL from the
temporary directory or floppy disk if you so desire.

If you still receive an error message, you can either keep
the existing PMMERGE.DLL or restore the old one. If you
encounter new problems with your system using the new
PMMERGE.DLL, you may want to use the older one instead.

To restore the old PMMERGE.DLL:
If your OS/2 system resides on an HPFS partition, boot off
of your first two OS/2 install disks. Otherwise, boot to
another partition or from a bootable diskette (DOS or 1st
two OS/2 install disks).

Change to the OS2\DLL\ subdirectory on the drive or
partition which the failing OS/2 was installed on.

DO NOT POWER OFF OR REBOOT YOUR PC UNTIL THE FOLLOWING
INSTRUCTIONS HAVE BEEN SUCESSFULLY COMPLETED AND THIS
DOCUMENT INSTRUCTS YOU TO DO SO.

Type:
COPY PMMERGE.DLL PMMERGE.DSF <Enter>

This command should be confirmed with the system (such as
"1 file copied"). If this command did not execute properly,
do not continue.

Type:

ERASE PMMERGE.DLL <Enter>

COPY PMMERGE.IBM PMMERGE.DLL <Enter>

This should restore your old PMMERGE.DLL. You can reboot
your machine and it should operate as it did before starting
these instructions.
