The legendary computer systems from 1975/1976:
- Altair 8800, the first complete and commercial successful PC, created by Ed Roberts († 1.April 2010)
- IMSAI 8080, the first machine sold with CP/M version 1.31, created by William Millard
- Cromemco Z-1, the first machine using the Z80 microprocessor, created by Harry Garland and Roger Melen
These machines all ran a version or variation of Digital Research CP/M,
which was written by Gary Kildall († 11.July 1994).
Now we have 2015, 40 years after these machines were created, and I can
run emulations of these machines on a small Apple Notebook
system running OS X, created by Steve Jobs († 5.October 2011).
Apple's OS X is a variation of UNIX, which was written by Ken Thompson and
Dennis Ritchie († 12.October 2011).
I think this is a good representation of the progress made the last 40 years
and I would like to thank the people who made it possible.
I grew up with these machines you created and the operating systems you wrote
for them. Thanks for that, I owe you.
