The 452 has been cleaned and the power supply restored and checked.
It will operate briefly after power up, there is an intermittent fault that rapidly causes the display to go blank. This awaits investigation.
Restoration 1 Cleaning, Physical & Safety
General condition was fair with no gross dirt or corrosion. The unit was dismantled for inspection and cleaning.
Restoration 2 Power Supply
The Wang 452 was designed with an international market in mind and the power transformer had local voltage taps, these were adjusted to enable direct local mains operation.
A number of filter capacitors were in poor condition and all were replaced.
The power supply then operated well with good voltage regulation into a dummy load.
