-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- ftp://ftp.informatik.uni-stuttgart.de/pub/Linux/timezone/tz.README Rules for Daylight Saving Time in Europe (MET DST) have changed in 1996. Since most older software installed doesn't know that yet, I've put here a copy of most relevant software according this and patched its Makefile to fit Linux. The default timezone is set to Europe/Berlin. The tarfiles are copied from ftp://elsie.nci.nih.gov/pub/ On my Linux host I'd installed this software by doing the following... Get all files matching tz.* from ftp://ftp.informatik.uni-stuttgart.de/pub/Linux/timezone/ These are checksums generated with md5sum for all files required. 0a3dc49f63089d3f1544358d4b38e4b2 tzcode96j.tar.gz 72a115e16dfa178c9239eab8a0dc28c3 tzdata96i.tar.gz 401a426d5fadfe61ab6b230a670de68e tz.linux.germany.diff Assuming these files are copied to /usr/src/ ... cd /usr/src mkdir tzsrc cd tzsrc gzip -dc ../tzcode96j.tar.gz | tar xvf - gzip -dc ../tzdata96i.tar.gz | tar xvf - patch <../tz.linux.germany.diff You may want to look at Makefile before compiling... make Next two steps require root privileges. rm -f /usr/bin/zic /usr/bin/zdump make install date Removing old zic and zdump may be necessary because new zic & zdump get installed in /usr/sbin. "date" should show correct date and time (depending on your system clock). To get this package working on other systems you need to edit Makefile. - - Andreas Disclaimer: I'll provide this information and tz software in the hope that it will be useful, but WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY; without even the implied warranty of MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. - -- Andreas Koppenhoefer, Student der Universitaet Stuttgart, BR Deutschland Franz-Schubert-Str. 2, 97616 Bad Neustadt; Phone +49 9771 7943, Fax/Data 7947 , ; PGP-Key available at URL -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: 2.6.2i iQBVAwUBMk4oIkVdjNvyndGpAQH9EAIAihkUuTImDI/wofu3fwSQOF5DfD0aNfOZ UVsLODdgeUHIvwM6HpciXRT4rMToSWoY/C9nXp4FaNyjkJPJPXMsAQ== =Mixj -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
