Fractal-movie is an efficient fractal encoder/decoder for compression of image sequences (movies). The encoder is based on least squares methods with quad-tree partitioning for appoximation of image blocks. The encoder reaches a compression ratio up to 50:1 and more (but with visible reduction of image quality). A fractal encoded sample image-sequence of size 384x288 pixels is included. The playback performance of the decoder reaches about 17 frames per second including displaying and 8-bit dithering. As far as we know this is the first time a encoder based on fractal image compression techniques is published.
