This file describes the files of the DcD. They are in this directory,
and in several subdirectories.

whatsnew
   A short summary of new features and data in the most recent version.

legend
   This file.

creators.legend
   A file with all creators and their abbreviations. Some information
   is added where to find work of the creator.

subseries.legend
   A short listing of the documented subseries.

heroes.legend
   A file with all heroes and their abbreviations. Some information is
   added where to find a hero, e.g. his/her first apearance.

format.legend
   An extensive description of all fields used in the DcD.

indexed-issues.legend
   A list of the indexed issues you can find in the files in the subdirectories
   mentioned below.

indexers.legend
   A list of people who indexed the data in the DcD.

indexind.txt
   A list of indexes used or not used in this DcD.

Files in subdirectories
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The other files are in several subdirectories:

western
   Files with information about the USA comics from before 1986,
   mostly published by Western, under the Dell, Gold Key, and Whitman label.
   All indexed issues appear in alphabetical order.

   These files can be considered a list of stories as well as a list
   of reprints.

us
   Files with information about the USA comics from 1986 - present.
   All indexed issues appear in alphabetical order.

denmark, finland, etc.
various
   Files with information about comics from the respective country.
   All indexed issues appear in alphabetical order.

creators
   Files with information grouped by creator: Carl Barks, Don Rosa,
   and some others.
   Also, some files with so-called "subseries", like "A Goofy Look At.."
   and "Goofy as a famous historic figure"

stories
   Files with information grouped by "story code". For instance, all
   stories produced by Egmont in Denmark are in the three files
   "D-cod-2000-5998.stories", "D-cod-6000-10168.stories", and
   "D-cod-88-.stories".
   Newspaper strips are for instance in "Daily-Donald-Duck.stories"
   and "Sunday-Donald-Duck.stories".

internal
   The same information from all directories above, but in an "internal"
   format, meant for computers. The format is described in the file
   "format.legend".

access
   Most of the information from the DcD in a format that can be
   read by MS-Access (or MS-Excel, etc.)

original
   The original database files, from which all information in the
   previous directories is derived (generated by the DcD programs).

src
   The sources of the DcD programs. Written (in C++) by Harry Fluks.


Additional info on the Dutch index

Listed are:

all Dutch publications of as much Disney comics as possible, except:
- Scamp daily gags
- Donald Duck newspaper gags by Al Taliaferro
- covers, text pages, games, etc.
but including:
- Covers and center spreads by Daan Jippes (and a few other 'nice' covers)
- All work by Carl Barks and Don Rosa


Additional info on the Swedish index
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The lower case character behind the issue code denotes _exactly_ the position
of the entry in the issue: a = front cover, b = first story or gag, etc.
