This is the version 1.0.2 of GIMP for XFree86/OS2.

Changes in this release:

   * synchronous with the official GIMP 1.0.2 release:
	- Evil GIF infinite file bug introduced in 1.0.1 fixed
	- GIMP_DATADIR environment var can override precompiled DATADIR spec
	- Nicer write error handling
	- A few small bugfixes

Three packages:

   gimp102bin.zip	- EXE's (gimp.exe and plug-ins) and DLL's
gimp10data.zip	- data files (the same as v1.0.0)
   gimp10dataex.zip	- OPTIONAL
extra brushes, gradients, palettes and patterns
by various authors around the internet
			  (re-packed from gimp-data-extras-1.0.0.tar.gz)

Update from v1.0.0:

If you have already installed v1.0.0 before,
you may delete the following files in XFree86\lib after installation.
(The DLL files have been renamed.)
      aa12.dll, gdbm173.dll, gdk105.dll, gif30.dll, glib105.dll,
      gtk105.dll, jpeg6b.dll, mpeg121.dll, png102.dll, tiff34.dll,
      xdel023.dll, Xpm34k.dll, z112.dll

Installation:

   cd <your %X11ROOT% directory>
   unzip gimp10data.zip
   unzip gimp102bin.zip

The original shm.dll included in XFree86-3.3.2 release has a serious bug.
Be sure to replace shm.dll with that included in gimp102bin.zip.
In addition, Xpm.dll is newer than that in XFree86-3.3.2 release.

The disk drive of your %HOME% directory must have an enough space
for swap and temporary files. Always check the %HOME%\.gimp\tmp
directory and clean the garbage after running gimp.

run gimp.exe and enjoy it :-)

*** NOTICE ***
There is an unknown XSHM problem in the full-featured X server with
PEX,XI,XIE support, so gdk_use_xshm is automatically disabled
   under full-featured X servers.
If you encounter any X server crash, try to use 'gimp --no-xshm' or
'gimp --no-xshm --no-shm' and report it.

NOTEs for gimprc of GIMP/2:

   * The variable x11root is set to the environment variable X11ROOT.
   * Paths are separated by ';'. (OS/2 convention)

Some utilities required for some plug-ins:

   * bz2 (Load/Save files compressed with bzip2):
     bzip2.exe, available at
     ftp://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/util/archiver/bzip201p2.zip
   * url (Load URL object):
     wget.exe, available at
     ftp://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/apps/internet/www/util/gnuwget.zip
   * ps (Load PostScript/PDF file, Save PostScript file):
     ghostscript, available at
     ftp://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/unix/apps/ghost/
     - setup:
       1. set GS_PROG=gsos2
       2. set GS_LIB=x:\gstools\gs5.10
          (x:\gstools\gs5.10 is where ghostscript installed)
       3. add x:\gstools\gs5.10 to %PATH%

How to build GIMP/2 from scratch:

If you want to build GIMP/2 from scratch, you must apply the diff file,
XFree86/src/diffs/gimp102.diff, to the source code and get the
libraries in the dev/ sub-directory. These libraries can also be
   available at http://r350.ee.ntu.edu.tw/~hcchu/os2/xf86lib.html
   (gtk+-1.0.6 and xpm-3.4k) and
   http://r350.ee.ntu.edu.tw/~hcchu/os2/misclib.html (aa-1.2, gdbm-1.7.3,
   gif-3.0, jpeg-6b, mpeg-1.2.1, png-1.0.2, tiff-3.4, xdelta-0.23 and
   zlib-1.1.2).

BUG report:

Please send the bug report to GIMP/2 mailing list (see
http://www.netlabs.org/gimp/) since the bug may only exist in
   the GIMP/2 port.

 * If you encounter any GIMP/2 crash and 'gimp --no-xshm --no-shm' can't
solve your problem, before you do anything,
please run shmsts.exe in any OS/2 command window and
send the output to GIMP/2 mailing list.
